Betting match results

Two possible variants

Two different betting systems are possible. They differ in the KO phase.

Both betting systems can be divided into several phases, for example first group phase, then round of 16 and then the rest.

Variant 1

In the first system (worksheet 'Predictions_1'), no match results are predicted in the round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals, only the teams that qualify for the next round.

In the group phase you get points for:

1. Won/Draw/Loss correctly predicted
2. Correct goal difference
3. Exact match result
4. Optional: Good approximation for scores with many goals

In the KO phase you get points for:

1. Correct teams in the round of 16
   One point for each team that qualified; the order doesn't matter.
2. Correct teams in quarter-finals
3. Correct teams in semi-finals
4. Correct teams in the final
5. Correct winner in the final

The weighting factors for the different categories can be chosen arbitrarily.

Variant 2

In the second system (worksheet 'Predictions_2') you predict all match results. From the quarter-finals onwards the match results plus participating teams are predicted. Predictions for the knockout round will only be made after the end of the group stage, when the matches for the round of 16 have been determined.

In the event of a penalty shoot-out, the match result after 120 minutes is predicted.
Exception: In the final the full match result (including penalty shoot-outs) is predicted.

In all matches you get points for:

1. Won/Draw/Loss correctly predicted
2. Correct goal difference
3. Exact match result
4. Optional: Good approximation for scores with many goals

In the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final you get additional points for correct teams.
In the quarter-finals and the semi-finals the order of the matches is arbitrary.
The same applies to the order of the two teams involved.

Settings

The weighting factors for the individual categories and other default settings can be selected on the 'PrSettings' worksheet. More information on this worksheet.

Ranking list

The worksheets 'Predictions_ranking_1' and 'Predictions_ranking_2' show the ranking list of all participants with the total number of points achieved.

Additional helper files

To send predictions by email, there is a small helper file
User_name_1_en.xlsx (variant 1)
or
User_name_2_en.xlsx (variant 2).

For the automatic transfer of all predictions sent by email there is a small helper file
PredictionsTransfer_1_en.xlsm (variant 1)
or
PredictionsTransfer_2_en.xlsm (variant 2).

This file contains VBA-Code.

The automatic transfer of the predictions can be done in different steps:

• Transfer from 1st round of group stage (i.e. all predictions)
• Transfer from the 2nd round of the group stage
• Transfer from the 3rd round of the group stage
• Transfer from the round of 16
• Transfer from the quarterfinals
• Transfer from the semifinals
• Transfer of the final only

In this way, new prediction results can be added step by step without overwriting the existing ones.

All helper files are multilingual.

Alternative

A user had the idea that the macro code in the file 'Predictions_Transfer.xlsm' reads the predicted match results directly from the 'EURO' spreadsheet. To send the bet results by email, you could then simply fill out a stripped down version of the EURO schedule, rename it (e.g. to 'Anna.xlsx') and send it.
